One of the quickest ways to visit the lovely "île de beauté" is by taking a virtual promenade, where you can let your fingers do the flying—via scroll bar—thru 360 degree videos and photos from around the island. While there are a number of sites that offer virtual views, here are a couple that are outstanding:
- imageglobale.com, This Corsican company offers unbeatable video views of high quality and beauty. Nothing gets you closer than a personal visit! From their main website, select a view from the listing of corsican villages, or select from the links below):
Visitez Calvi | Visitez Ile Rousse | Visitez Algajola Visitez Saint-Florent | Visitez Bastia | Visitez Patrimonio
Once you have selecting a destination, its image will load to your screen displaying the starting view. Flashing Arrows over the village show specific locations like streets or ports to select. Then, click on the "+" or "-" signs to zoom in or out, or "click and drag" your mouse to move in that particular direction, including "up" to see the sky, or "Left or Right" to explore your 360 degree view. Double-clicking Directional Arrows in the street forwards the view. Street scenes are wonderfully detailed and inviting, but even more noteworthy are the aerial views, selected by clicking on the "'hot air balloon" icons (Vue aérienne).
For alternate views of some of the villages, a menu bar appears at the bottom of the screen. Click on the magnifying glass icon to select "Accès aux catégories" for additional views of:
- Hotels
- Restaurants
- Bars & Cafés
- Restauration rapide & Glaciers (Quick eats/Ice Cream)
- All Commerce
- Les patrimoines (Churches)
- Hébergements (Lodgings)
- Les vues aeriennes (Aerial views) <— This is fantastic!
- Google Maps, To regard the Corsican views, from Google's main page, enter either "Corsica" or a Corsican location (ex. "Calvi,France") in the Search bar, then click on "Search Maps". You'll find this diplayed maps view comes with additional features... The "+ and "-" selection bar has a "person" icon which you can be "click and drag" to any "blue" street location on the map for an in-depth camera view.
Once inside the photo view, a circular direction tool allows one to click on arrows to go left, right, up or down... OR "click and drag" around the tool's outer circle to get a 360-degree panoramic view . A map in the lower right displays your "person" at its designated location- just "click and drag" to move more quickly along the map route. Double-clicking Directional Arrows in the ground forwards the view. Close-ups are viewed by moving your mouse scroll-bar "up" and to zoom out by scrolling "down".
